Pledge

A pledge is a property that can be used as security for a loan. The collateral can be either movable or immovable. In the case of movable property, the pledge must be handed over to a pledgee who has the right to sell it in order to obtain payment of the claim. Real property, on the other hand, is more difficult to transfer, especially if it is a home. In this case, a mortgage deed can be handed over instead.
